Narcissism and Validation From Outward
Because people learned that others do not care about their feelings, they learned to deal with it all alone and think that they do not affect the outside world. This is faulty thinking, and people do get affected by the emotional life of another. Especially people that we are closer to and that know us.
I was thinking, in the olden days people did not know themselves as well as people now because they did not feel able to control their desires of physical attraction towards opposite gender, so there needed to be segregation. They could not control their urges because so great was their need for outward validation, that just the thought of another being being interested in them and getting attention physically made them instantly enamored. Now, we are able to control desires more because we know that self-esteem has to come from within on order to feel good, and not just from sexual gratification of a "hot" person. I wonder about this...
