Oneness and The Ego

Teal Swan talks about Oneness being important to know for people who feel disconnected from humanity. She says, however, that once they know oneness and see it, they should strive for seeing that oneness does not exist in the vast universe, and it is merely a reflection of the ego.

I connected this concept with "The Mystery God" that John Bradshaw talks about. He says that when we are raised in a society that deems G-d as something separate from us, that we are too little to access, it causes us to see Him as mysterious and unattainable. We fear Him so much so that we cannot develop a relationship with Him. This happens when mothers and fathers instill fear in their kids for being themselves and having emotions, that they disconnect from themselves and think that that is what G-d wants. They go on to think that something is inherently flawed in them as humans, and shame causes them to not admit this. They go through life feeling disconnected, and continue the pattern of looking at their fellow humans like the mystery G-d, someone they cannot connect to and feel less-than.

This is wrong to see things as, and we need to cultivate seeing that we can in fact have G-d in our lives by understanding that He cares for you because He created you. He knows your struggles, and even though you grew up feeling shamed for them, they ARE real. I think I have been seeing more recently that I am real and can connect to others without feeling shame, and I think the more I say my story and feel confident in receiving good feedback, the more my ego gains strength and healing and I can feel oneness with the world.
